When someone searches for a service near them, Google often shows a map with local businesses before any website. That map listing comes from your Google Business Profile, and it is free. If your customers are local, it is one of the best ways to be found.
Step 1: Claim your profile
Search for your business name on Google Maps. If it appears, claim it. If not, add it as a new business. Use your real business name exactly as it appears on your signboard and website.
Step 2: Choose the right category
Your primary category is one of the strongest signals Google uses. Pick the one that best describes your main service, then add secondary categories for your other services.
Step 3: Add accurate contact details
Enter your full address, phone number, website and opening hours. Keep your name, address and phone number identical to what is on your website, because consistency builds trust with search engines. If you serve customers at their location instead of at an office, set your service areas.
Step 4: Verify the listing
Google will ask you to verify that the business is real. The method varies, and it may be a code by phone, email, video or another option. Complete it so your listing can appear.
Step 5: Fill in everything
Add a description, services, products and good photos of your premises, team and work. Complete profiles are more useful to customers and tend to perform better.
Step 6: Ask for honest reviews
Reviews help people decide. Ask satisfied customers to leave an honest review and reply to every review politely, including critical ones. Never buy fake reviews, as that breaks Google's rules.
Step 7: Keep it active
Post updates, offers and new photos, and respond to questions. Check the profile regularly so hours and details stay correct.
